Commissioning

What is Commissioning?

ScienceDirect defines commissioning services as “the integrated application of a set of engineering techniques and procedures to check, inspect, and test every operational component of the project—from individual functions such as instruments and equipment, up to more complex entities such as subsystems and systems. Importantly, this includes the operation of all systems, subsystems, and equipment over as full a range of operating conditions as possible.” (ScienceDirect, 2008).

In simple terms, building commissioning is an engineering procedure that takes place after construction to ensure that all systems and equipment are set up and functioning optimally within the building.

For more than 20 years, Syska Hennessy Group has been providing commissioning services globally to clients in sectors such as commercial interiors, critical facilities, education, government, healthcare, mixed-use, retail, and science and technology.

Our building commissioning team operates as a specialized group within Syska, providing consulting, commissioning, and technical documentation services to building owners and managers in any geographic location worldwide. These services support facilities that operate efficiently, correctly, and sustainably – critical considerations at a time when companies are looking to revolutionize the performance of buildings they own or occupy. Long-term benefits include not only a high return on investment, but also a positive environmental impact.

A Diverse Team

Syska Hennessy Group has been at the leading edge of lighting design since the 1960s. The diverse backgrounds of our dedicated team in architecture, interior design, theater and lighting design provide unique perspective and insight into the lighting design process. These distinct characteristics support the creative balance of combining the artful application of lighting with the depth of technical expertise. We closely collaborate with the design team to develop lighting design solutions which are seamlessly integrated into the architecture and interior design.

Clients & Projects

Our goal remains unchanged, we continue to enhance our engineering practice while placing a strong emphasis on decarbonization. Through thoughtful engagement with our clients, we craft innovative designs across a broad range of markets to enhance the built environment. Take a look.

Delivering Sustainability Energy Efficiencies Solutions

With increasingly stringent mandates by local municipalities to reduce carbon emissions, airport authorities rely on Syska’s high-performance expertise and analytics tools to meet their sustainability goals. A recent project, the Terminal 2 West expansion at San Diego International Airi:>ort, became the first-ever certified LEED Platinum. Computational fluid dynamics (CFO) for predictive airflow performance and solar and energy models defined scenarios that the design team successfully deployed.

Deliver Unique Design Solutions

While Syska is at the leading edge of engineering innovation, our fundamental mission to solve our clients’ challenges has remained consistent. We offer a complete range of delivery methods, varying from traditional design-bid-build, design-build, P3 and Construction Manager at Risk.
