As president and CEO of Syska Hennessy Group, Inc., Cyrus Izzo leads one of the world’s top engineering firms, boasting over 500 professionals across 20 offices. He joined Syska in 1993 as an electrical engineer and became president and CEO in 2023. Cyrus has been instrumental in enhancing the firm’s consulting, information and communications technology (ICT), and commissioning capabilities. He has also overseen the firm’s expansion into Dubai and Shanghai, established best practices, and built a diverse management team to drive future growth.
In 2005, Cyrus founded Syska’s first global practice, Critical Facilities, which earned the firm a spot among the top three mission-critical engineering firms globally, according to Engineering News-Record. Under his leadership, this practice has designed essential systems for some of the world’s most significant data centers and trading floors. He remains a hands-on leader, managing key client relationships and projects with major organizations like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Microsoft.
Cyrus also launched the subsidiary Syska Innovations, LLC, and played a key role in establishing AEC Angels, a venture fund that supports seed through Series B + investments.
Looking ahead, Cyrus is enthusiastic about the future. “When I think about how our engineers leverage technology and high-performance, sustainable solutions, it inspires me,” he shares. “I get to help our clients tackle some of the most uniquely challenging projects in the world.” Cyrus holds a BSEE from Manhattan College and is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
